Using Google Docs to help students stay engaged

I was thrilled to realize that in fact I am not alone as I try to get my middle school special education students to write more than a one or two sentence response to a prompt.  It was fascinating to see how this tool might work to encourage students to write more and regain the sense of being in control of their writing.  I love the idea of students making revision and actually reading the teacher comments as they were able to acknowledge them or delete them.

Students Taking Ownership

I have recently started using Google Docs for my own collaboration efforts with peers, but like the unique perspective you brought to the table about educators interacting with students through Google Docs. I particularly liked how you said students take ownership of their writing because they have the ability to edit their mistakes and remove teacher comments. I am eager to try this in my classroom.
